Savonarola, Girolamo [Pseudo-]
In Psalmum V (5): Exposizione sopra il salmo Verba mea.

[Florence: Printer of Pseudo-Savonarola, Esposizione sopra il salmo Verba mea (HCR 14410), not after 24 May 1499].

Quarto, 8 of 8 leaves; no imprint, text printed in single column in roman letter; published after Savonarola's death, containing scathing judgment against members of the Catholic church who excommunicated and executed him in 1498; paper reinforcements of leaves at gutters, generally good; bound in modern paper-covered boards with gilt-lettered leather label on front board, 7 3/4 x 5 1/2 in.

ISTC notes that the Dominicans ordered an enquiry into the authorship and publication of this tract on 24 May 1499 (L. Polizzotto, The Elect Nation (Oxford 1994) pp.173-77; M.C. Davies). Goff and BMC previously stated that the work was printed after 1500, a date now clearly refuted by the timing of the Dominican inquiry. Modern scholars attribute the composition of this heretical tract to Dominican friar Simone Cinozzi.
